This Thing Called Love ❤️

Love is one of the most talked-about words in the world today. We hear about love in songs, movies, books, social media, and in everyday conversations. Many people think love is just a feeling, attraction, or romance, but the Bible teaches us something much deeper and more meaningful. According to Scripture, God is love (1 John 4:8), and real love comes from Him. True love is not only about how we feel but about how we live, how we treat others, and how we reflect God’s character in our daily lives.

The greatest example of love is found in what God did for us through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son” (John 3:16). God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for our sins, even when we were not perfect. The cross shows us how valuable we are to God, how deeply we are forgiven, and how greatly we are loved. God did not save us because we deserved it; He saved us because love is His nature.

The Bible also explains what real love looks like in practical ways. In 1 Corinthians 13, we learn that love is patient and kind. It is not jealous, proud, rude, or selfish. Love does not get easily angry, does not keep records of wrongs, and always chooses truth. Love protects, trusts, hopes, and never gives up. This kind of love helps us build healthy friendships, strong families, and peaceful communities. That is why the Bible says the greatest gift of all is love.

Jesus showed us how much He values children and young people. In Mark 10:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Jesus welcomed children, blessed them, and showed that every child matters to God. No one is too young, too small, or unimportant in God’s eyes. Every young person has a place in God’s heart and in His kingdom.

Jesus also taught us to treat others with kindness. He gave us the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” This means we should speak kindly, forgive easily, help those in need, and choose love even when it is difficult. Kindness is not just about what we say, but about what we do. When we choose kindness, we become more like Jesus and reflect His love to the world around us.

One of the most challenging teachings of Jesus is when He tells us to love our enemies. In Matthew 5:44, Jesus says, “Love your enemies and pray for those who hurt you.” This does not mean allowing others to treat us badly, but it means choosing not to respond with anger, revenge, or hatred. Instead, God calls us to respond with love, prayer, and wisdom. This kind of love shows great spiritual strength and maturity.

Jesus also taught us about loving our neighbors through the story of the Good Samaritan. In this story, a man was hurt and left on the road, and many people passed him without helping. But a Samaritan stopped, showed compassion, and took care of him. The lesson from this story is that love is shown through action. Anyone can be our neighbor, and whenever we help someone in need, we are showing God’s love in a practical way.

Before Jesus left the world, He gave His disciples one powerful command: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). This means loving with actions and not just words, caring for others genuinely, and living in a way that reflects Christ. When we love others, people are able to see Jesus through us, and our lives become a testimony of God’s grace.

In conclusion, every child, teenager, and young person should know this truth: you are loved by God, you are valuable, and you are called to love others. Real love is not about popularity, feelings, or appearance, but about living like Jesus. When we choose love over hate, kindness over anger, forgiveness over bitterness, and compassion over selfishness, we not only change ourselves but also help transform our families, schools, churches, and communities.
